August & September Events
A group of us thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Independence Day at Farmers Branch Historical Park. It was an awesome experience – great conversation, good food, wonderful music and fantastic fireworks – it wasn’t even that hot – we were so blessed.
TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME – TUESDAY, AUGUST 4TH
I am elated to share with you that through the generosity of Joe and Adriane Young, we will be going to the Texas Rangers – Houston Astros game on Tuesday night, August 4th. We will leave the FB campus at 4:30 to avoid some of the heavy traffic. Ticket prices will be ONLY $15 and our seats will be on the FIRST LEVEL in a corner box on the first base side (beneath the under-hang). Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in attending since we need to purchase the tickets. When you pay me the money for your ticket, you are confirmed! If you have a financial concern, please let me know and we will see what arrangements might be made – we want everyone to enjoy this event. The drive will take at least 40 minutes and the game is at 7:05 p.m. This will allow us plenty of time to walk around and enjoy dinner before the game (there are tables in the shade to enjoy the breeze).
For those of you who work and are feeling like 4:30 is a bit early to leave, perhaps you can make arrangements to leave work early that day OR just let me know and I’ll keep a list of those who would like to come later and perhaps you all can come together. I will be asking if the church van is available and if it isn’t, we will just go in cars.
A DAY IN GRANBURY – SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 – ON GOLDEN POND
We will leave the FB campus at 9:30 on Saturday, September 19; Granbury is about a one and a half hour drive. There is great shopping, wonderful food (even a Babe’s Chicken) and Granbury affords a really relaxing experience. It’s fun to just sit outside, enjoy an ice cream cone and people watch. You’ll have plenty of time to have lunch and enjoy walking around and shopping before attending the 3:30 p.m. matinee of the play, “On Golden Pond” at the Granbury Opera House (a real treat in itself). We can discuss dinner after the performance – I know there’s terrific Bodacious BBQ there that’s out of this world! Sr. (over 65) tickets are $22, Adults $25 and if we have a group of 10 or more, ticket prices will be $20. Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in attending so I can determine if we need to reserve a van. There’s plenty of time to pay for tickets later.
