Be My Eyes

I was fascinated to learn of a new app that allows people who can see to "lend their eyes" to those with visual impairments through video chat. The "Be My Eyes" app was developed by a visually impaired man in Denmark. It works through connecting visually impaired people to volunteers through video chat. The volunteers can answer questions because they can see the blind person's surroundings using their phone's camera.

For example, a “Be My Eyes” volunteer connected with a young man who wanted to know the expiration date of the milk in his refrigerator. The visually impaired man pointed his phone's camera to the top shelf. The volunteer was able to look at the image of the milk carton on his phone and said, “I wouldn't drink that if I were you.”

We all need Jesus to “be our eyes” when it comes to how we see the world around us. I’m looking forward to continuing our “Just Like Jesus” series this weekend. We’ll dive into a story about Jesus transforming His followers’ vision of how they see the world around them, and doing it while also giving a blind man sight.

Living like Jesus involves learning to see the world like Jesus, and engaging with it accordingly.

Lord, be our eyes.

Grace and Peace,

See You This Weekend!
