Freedom From The Oppression Of Depression

The Branch Church

August 15, 2018

But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord . . . . (Psalm 3:3-4)

This past weekend, I spent some time with you addressing the subject of suicide. By no means do I consider it a perfect or comprehensive sermon on the subject. But the subject is rarely addressed in churches and faith contexts. It’s for that reason I want to encourage you to share it with others you know who may be touched by the message. It’s a heavy subject, but Jesus is heavier. And what cannot be acknowledged cannot be healed. There’s a couple of ways you can share it. You can use the link provided in this email (watch+listen banner below) or share the church’s Facebook page.

Speaking of heavy subjects . . . .

For the next two weekends, I’m going to take some time to address the subject of depression; I’ll talk about its complexity, and also about a way forward when it comes to dealing with it in one’s own life or helping someone who’s dealing with it. God comforts the downcast and delivers the oppressed, but He has various ways of delivering, and of sustaining us in the process. We’re going to do more than talk. We’re going to pray.

If you are in a season of depression, know someone who is, or know someone who has a loved one struggling in such a way, will you bring them with you?  What I have to share will be grounded in Scripture, honest, helpful, and hopeful – by the grace of God.

See You Thursday Night or Sunday,

 Grace and Peace,

Chris Seidman
Senior Minister
