Halfway Thru

As of the end of today, we’ll be halfway through 2016!  What?????

I often hear parents talk about the need to expose their children to helping the less-fortunate in our communities. Did you know that every Saturday this summer, groceries that will feed hundreds of kids and their families are being assembled and delivered in neighborhoods around our Farmers Branch Campus? You can be a part of the assembly or delivery or both!  It happens at our Farmers Branch Campus from 9:30 am to noon.  These are impoverished families who, during the school year, depend on the meal program at schools to help nourish their kids.  The summer months can be a tremendous challenge for many of these families. Come some Saturday morning this summer.  Be a blessing and experience one!

Though I’ll be on a break from preaching on the weekends in July, I’m already looking forward to being back with you on the first weekend in August for a series I’ve been working on called “Beyond All Shame.” Shame is a powerful and multi-faceted dynamic in our culture and our individual lives. It can hold us hostage in a number of ways. I can’t wait to unpack the freedom-giving truth Scripture has concerning shame this August!

As for July, I’m thrilled that as a church we’ll be walking through the letter to the Philippians in a series called “Joy.” Ryan Rainey will be kicking it off this weekend at the Vista Ridge Campus, and Chris Shelby of Mission Resource Network will be kicking it off at the Farmers Branch Campus.

Finally, please grab the July edition of Branch Out, our church magazine, this weekend, or get it through The Branch app on your phone.  There is so much happening this summer. Don’t let the opportunities for connection, fellowship, and service sneak up on you.

Whether you’re on the road or staying local this 4th of July, I hope you have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend!

Grace and Peace,

Chris Seidman
