Harvey, Irma, 10 Years Ago

So much is happening all around us. The relief and recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Harvey are in full swing. (There are collection points at both campuses for the relief efforts in Houston. We sent a detailed email last Friday regarding the list of items that are most helpful.  After Sunday, all items will be transported, and we’ll direct future donations of items to Metrocrest Services, which will direct long-term relief efforts.) Another category 5 hurricane is approaching Florida in the next few days. North Korea occupies a fair share of air time. There’s no shortage of things to pray about these days -- and people to pray for.

There’s also much to be thankful for. This coming Sunday will mark 10 years since we launched the Vista Ridge Campus. In early 2018, we’ll mark 30 years at the current Farmers Branch Campus.  I’ve been here long enough to see an abundance of lives changed by Jesus Christ on both campuses, and incredible good done locally and globally in the lives of so many in great need. “I love my church!” And I believe the best is yet to come!

We’ll be in the “I Love My Church” series two more weeks. I’ll be taking some time to visit with both campuses about some important things to come for us. I’m going to be putting something before you to pray about. It will involve all of us seeking the Lord for a season in regard to what He would have each of us to do. This is not empty speech. How the church responds after a season of prayer will either confirm a plan our leadership has on its heart, refine it, or cause us to go back to the drawing board. I’ll tell you more details over the next couple of weeks. So come with an open heart, and let’s be ready to hit our knees for a season.

Then I’ll take us on a journey through stories in Joshua beginning Thursday, September 21st and Sunday, September 24th!

See You Thursday night or Sunday!

Grace and Peace,
