I read a fascinating piece this past week on how much energy it takes to lie. Researchers maintain that lying causes as many as eight or nine different parts of the brain to “light up,” as opposed to as few as four parts of the brain lighting up when someone is telling the truth.
Lying could be considered neurologically exhausting. Some people appear to do it quite easily, but it’s wearing them out in more ways than one. The truth sets us free in all kinds of ways. So much time, energy, and resources are consumed in our culture today through covering and compensating for lies – lies we tell others, ourselves, and God.
We’re all under construction when it comes to having a life that honors God. It involves honesty but extends beyond it. How would you describe a life that honors God? Malachi 2:1-9 offers us a vision of it. We’ll walk through it together this weekend and explore its implications for our lives as our Honor series continues.
“Those who honor me, I will honor.” (1 Samuel 2:30)
See you Thursday night or Sunday,
Grace and Peace,
