Joshua And The Important Season We Are In

This week we begin a journey through some of the great stories of Joshua. This is a series for anyone who’s been stuck or stalled spiritually, who’s spent long enough in the wilderness, who’s tired of being counseled by their fears, or who’s ready to move more deeply into the kind of life Jesus came to give. And don’t forget to pick up the daily devotional guide that will accompany this series this weekend!

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve had an opportunity to share in our services regarding a proposed children’s building and remodel for student ministry and hospitality space at the VR Campus.  Our elders have asked us to envision paying for this project, while it’s in process, over the course of three years, from 2018-2020.  (If you’ve been with us the last couple of weekends, then you know we have an exciting opportunity when it comes to funding this project.  Two donors have come together and agreed to match, dollar-for-dollar, the first $2.5 million dollars given to this project.)

Our first step, though, is for every household to engage in a season of prayer for the next several weeks and seek the Lord in regard to one question: What would You have us give to this project? This could be an amount that’s given over the course of three years.

In early November, we’ll ask for you to share what you arrived at on a commitment card.

We’ll collect the commitment cards, add up the amounts, and one of three things will happen.

If the total commitments meet or exceed the cost of the project, we’ll proceed with proposal.

If the total commitments don’t quite meet the cost, we’ll work to scale back the project.

If the total commitments are not anywhere close to the cost of the project, we’ll walk away from it.

We are truly seeking the Lord’s confirmation of this plan through the body of believers here. This is an important time of prayer for us. This is also a time to ask more questions or to seek more clarity in regard to what we’ve shared.  This coming weekend, we hope to have an informational piece prepared for you to take home that answers some questions and helps to keep this effort before you in prayer.

See you Thursday night or Sunday for the beginning of Joshua!

Grace and Peace,
