What a blessed Resurrection Weekend we had! Many of you were serving in a variety of ways, while others brought people with them. I spoke to one woman Sunday who had 11 guests in tow with her! I believe this past weekend played a small but critical step in the spiritual journey of some. While we won’t see all the fruit, I do believe we’ll see some. If you have a story from this past weekend, I’d love to hear it!
A WORD ABOUT MY ERROR THIS PAST WEEKEND
In regard to this past weekend, I want to make sure I correct something erroneous that I said on Saturday night that was also in the video version of the sermon. In the course of preaching about Jesus’ wounds being healed and transformed into scars, I also mentioned His broken legs being healed. This was wrong.
I honestly am scratching my head as to why I said this. The only reason I can think of is that his legs were, indeed, referenced upon the cross and I was thinking about Him on the cross at that particular moment in the sermon. His legs did cross my mind, obviously. What’s important to know though is they were not broken (John 19:33). This was one of many prophecies about the Messiah that Jesus fulfilled. I neglected to remember the “not” part of that story in the heat of the preaching moment.
At any rate, I wanted to make sure I circled back around and corrected that erroneous statement. It’s important to me that I, to the best of my ability and understanding, convey the truth according to Scripture and to correct errors on my part along the way.
A SPECIAL APPEAL FOR THIS COMING WEEKEND
I want to make a special appeal for you to make the “ask” again and bring someone with you this weekend. We’ll be diving into our new series, “Anti-Fragile Love.” While this series will have much to do with marriage, family, and friendships, we’ll also be considering the idolatry of love, sex, and marriage in our culture today. Such idolatry actually works against the building of healthy marriages, families, and friendships today.
Whether you are single or married, divorced or widowed, old or young, I promise this series has something in it for you that will minister to your heart, equip your life, and empower you to minister to others. Don’t miss it, and bring a friend!
Finally, I’m pleased to share with you that $25,000 out of the offering this weekend will be dedicated to the construction of new homes this summer in Catacamas, Honduras, where a team from The Branch will be serving.
Grace and Peace,
See You This Weekend For “Anti-Fragile Love,”
