The Largest Gathering On Earth

The largest gathering on earth is said to be in northern India at an event known as the “Kumbh Mela.” In 2013, the conservative estimates of attendance were around ten million people. Why? Hindu tradition maintains that there was a war between gods and demons over divine nectar, and in the process, four drops of nectar fell from a pitcher. They fell into rivers in this particular region in northern India. Millions come during the “Kumbh Mela” to dip themselves in the rivers, which are said to rid them of their sins.

The largest gathering on earth is a mass of people seeking the forgiveness of sins. A sense of our need for forgiveness cuts across centuries, regions, and cultures all over the world. This weekend, we’ll explore the wonder of what it means to have “the forgiveness of sins” in Christ. Our forgiveness isn’t found in nectar accidentally sloshed upon the earth in the midst of a tussle between gods and demons. It has something with do with blood being intentionally spilled by One who took our sins upon Himself. Bring an open heart and a friend this weekend!

Also, don’t forget the interest meeting in regard to the launch of our third campus is this weekend at 6:30 pm, following our Saturday night service. Dinner’s included, and childcare is available.

Finally, remember to download The Branch App if you haven’t yet. I’ve heard a number of comments about how much easier the app makes it to access the audio/video of sermons, give, turn in elder recommendations, and stay up-to-date on the latest happenings at The Branch.

See You This Weekend!

Grace and Peace,
