Neighbors, Off-Ended, And Luke For Everyone

The Branch Church

November 7, 2018

Sins cannot be undone, only forgiven. (Igor Stravinsky)

This past weekend, I watched as my wife baptized Tallulah Rushton, our wonderful neighbor from across the street, into Christ. Tallulah and her parents, Charlie and Lucia, are truly hospitable neighbors and good friends. As I watched Tallulah embrace her Lord in this way, I thought about how grateful I am to be a part of this church -- the kind of church that I was excited to introduce my neighbors to last December. By the way, their first time with us was at one of our Christmas Candlelight services last year!

We kicked off our “Off-Ended” series last weekend by exploring how to avoid the trap of being easily offended. This coming weekend, we’ll explore how we move forward in the face of being seriously offended (sinned against), and the trap we find ourselves in when we are unable to. Don’t miss it, and come with friends in tow!

LUKE FOR EVERYONE

On the first weekend of December, we begin our journey through the gospel of Luke. This is a gospel for everyone.  I want to put a special resource in your hands for this series.  It will be available in our lobbies for the next three weekends.  I want to give everyone ample opportunity to pick up their copy of this resource. Be sure to bring it with you that first weekend of December.

This is a golden opportunity to invite someone in your network of relationships to come with you to The Branch and be exposed to the gospel of Jesus. You’d be surprised how many people have never really journeyed through a gospel. It can be a transformative experience. There’s the Jesus people think they know. And then there’s the Jesus revealed in the gospel of Luke.  Will you pray for “the one” you’ll bring with you on the weekend of December 2nd?  The gospel of Luke is for everyone. And there’s no better time to begin it than at Christmas!

ONE YEAR AGO THIS WEEKEND

One year ago this weekend, many of you turned in your commitment card toward Beyond Me and the construction of our new children’s ministry facility at the Vista Ridge Campus. For those who are new, these commitments could be fulfilled over the course of 36 months.

As of this date, 52 of the 453 households have already completed their commitments, and an additional 80 or so households (who didn’t turn in a commitment card) have made a contribution to this effort.

A total of $4,684,550 (this includes the matching funds) has been given thus far, which is 52% of the total amount of money committed. That this has happened within the first 12 months of Beyond Me is truly a blessing. Thank you for your faithfulness to give thus far!

Our plans are finalized, and the contractor is ready to roll. All that remains is a few final permits from the City of Carrollton. We anticipate the dirt moving and the dust flying before the end of the year.

See You Thursday Night or Sunday!

Grace and Peace,

Chris
