Our Story

1905 to 1956

Hearty pioneers, dedicated to being like the early church described in the New Testament, planted the Farmers Branch Church of Christ in 1905.

The congregation met in the public school building for the next four years. Then in 1909, our members themselves erected our first building at 2570 Valley View Lane.  Although the congregation became small during the depression years, we never ceased meeting in this place. This was our place of worship for the next forty-seven years.

After the depression, during World War II, the Farmers Branch community began to grow, as did the congregation.  By the year 1955, "The Branch" had reached a membership of 155.  In August of that year, we began construction on a new building at the same location.  The first service was conducted January 8, 1956, with 279 present.

1956 to 1988

With a hunger for righteousness, and seeking to know the truth, the church established the “Bible Training Work” in 1969 to teach the word of God and train young men to preach the good news of Jesus Christ. Along with a steeple, two additions were added to the Valley View building to accommodate the needs of the growing church.

1988 to 2000

Bro. Eddy KetchersidVisionary men and women, full of faith and with a heart to reach the lost, sought to create a place where they could impact the Farmers Branch community for Christ. In January of 1988, Brother Eddy Ketchersid came to The Branch as the Senior Minister. Under the leadership of Bro. Eddy and a group of courageous elders, the church went to the Lord in prayer and He provided the means to construct the beautiful building we now call the Farmers Branch Campus at 3035 Valley View Lane.  Services were held for the first time on August 14, 1988 in the new building. Through prayer, sacrificial giving, and the provision of the Lord, the note was paid off in five years. In 1998, we began an expansion effort for this building, adding 15,904 square feet, including a children's wing and some much-needed office space for our staff.

2000 to 2007

Chris SeidmanIn December 2000, Bro. Eddy graciously passed the torch to Chris Seidman, who accepted the call and became the Senior Minister of The Branch, moving here with his wife, Tara. Over the next five years, weekend attendance doubled. In 2005, at an elders/staff retreat, God planted the seed of the vision of a “multi-site” approach in the hearts of our leadership. This was an aggressive strategy, born out of prayer and motivated by a deep desire to help thousands come into an intimate relationship with God. The vision has been confirmed many times since then, culminating with the purchase of the Vista Ridge property on May 9, 2007. On September 9, 2007, we began simultaneous services at the Farmers Branch Campus and the Vista Ridge Campus.

2007 to Present

Over the past several years, God has continued to move in the lives of people at The Branch, renewing passions to live in an intimate relationship with God. Each campus has blossomed into vibrant communities, each with unique personalities and roles in their surrounding areas.  As we look to the future, we are excited about where God is taking The Branch physically and spiritually as we equip people to connect, grow, serve, and go!
